If you or someone else is diagnosed with an abdominal disease,
it is just a matter of time until a lot of questions want
to be answered. As a visceral surgeon, answering such questions,
but also explaining and stating the various facts within
the medical field, take up a large part of my daily business.
Futhermore, during my various and sometimes very intense
patient educations about forthcoming surgical interventions,
I increasingly became aware of how strong the need for information
is and how important it is to satisfy this need.
On the following pages, you will find some information about
the most important questions that are asked by the majority
of patients as well as information about possible examinations
and treatments concerning selected disease patterns. We
tried to formulate the disease descriptions as accurately
as possible. However, these descriptions will not always
enable laypersons to understand every detail. The personal
consultation with the responsible physician must not be
substituted for an information brochure or for the internet.
